Mechanical Water

Air conditioners provide mechanical water.

Mechanical Water Harvesting

Mechanical water, or condensate water, is distilled water produced by refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Most often, this water is fed into a hose or copper line that discharges into the ground or local sewer/septic system. However this water can be treated in much the same manner as collected Rainwater.

COSTS

Costs are generally low, mechanical water is already being generated in most buildings with a HVAC system. Diverting to a rain tank or rain garden can supplement these systems during hot, dry summers.

WHY CAPTURE MECHANICAL WATER?

Mechanical water, or AC condensate, is a consistent, reliable, and high quality source of water in hot summer months.  It can easily supplement other methods of water harvesting and re-use.
