Building a healthy soil ecology of beneficial bacteria, fungi, and nutrients has many benefits. Soil building supports healthy plants, grows more nutritious food crops, sequesters carbon from the atmosphere, and reduces runoff and erosion to creeks and rivers. By feeding soil organisms using compost, crop rotation, cover cropping, mulching, and compost teas and other soil biology treatments, we can improve soil health and reap many benefits for ecosystem and community health.

OPPORTUNITIES
Soil health can be improved almost everywhere.
COSTS
The cost of soil health is incredibly low. In fact, using landscape management methods that support soil health may reduce costs in the end as plants become less susceptible to diseases, pests, fire, flood, and drought.
